1. 1

Ovenware is pots, dishes and trays made so you can put them in a hot oven and they will not crack, melt or burst. Ordinary plastic would warp; some thin glass not made for the oven can shatter when the heat hits it. Ovenware is built for that job — often thick glass, ceramic, stoneware or a metal that can take the heat. Shops sell it as single pieces or as a set. Bakeware is a close cousin: that word leans toward tins and trays for cakes and , while ovenware is the wider, quieter word for anything that may go in the oven and come out whole. It is a practical kitchen word, not a fancy one. You do not call the oven itself ovenware — only the things you put inside it.
