Normality is the state in which things happen in the usual, expected way — the feeling that life has gone back to how it “should” feel after a shock, a war, a typhoon, or a very strange week. News writers love a return to normality. It is a slightly formal noun; in casual talk people often just say “things are back to normal.” Though actually, American English often uses normalcy for the same idea (you will hear it from US politicians), while British school English has long preferred normality. Both are understood. In old chemistry books, normality also names a way of measuring how strong a liquid mix is; that is a lab sense, not the everyday one.
