Normalize has two common uses. First, to make something become normal, standard, or accepted when it wasn't before - for example, people worry when bad behavior gets 'normalized,' meaning society starts treating it as ordinary instead of shocking. Second, in a more technical or diplomatic sense, to normalize relations between countries means to make them official and friendly again after a period of conflict. In math or data, to normalize numbers means adjusting them onto a common, standard scale.
