Menopausal is the describing word for menopause: the time, usually around fifty, when a woman's monthly bleeding stops for good. Doctors talk about menopausal symptoms — the sudden heat in the face and chest, the thin sleep, the mood swings that can come with the change. People also say a menopausal woman, meaning a woman in that stage of life. It is a medical and ordinary adjective, not a dramatic one. Be careful with the tone, though actually: in loose talk some speakers use menopausal as a cheap joke about a woman being difficult or moody. That is , and it is not how you should use the word. The noun is menopause; this -al form only describes.
