Picture a small tag stuck on the outside of something: a price on a jar, a name on a suitcase, washing instructions inside a shirt. One short piece of information, fixed on the surface, telling everyone what this thing is before they open it. Every other use is that tag moved somewhere else — onto a person, or onto the company whose name is printed on it.
