    Judaism is the religion of the Jewish people. It rests on the Hebrew Scriptures — Torah, prophets, and writings — and on a long life of teaching, law, and practice: prayer, Sabbath, food laws, and much else. Christians later took many of those same books and called them the Old Testament; though actually, that name is theirs, not a Jewish name, and Jewish people do not call their Bible “old.” Judaism is not only a pile of books. It is a living faith and a people, with many ways of keeping it, from very traditional to very liberal. The word is normal in news, school, and talk.
