    Something gratifying pleases you in a deep, quiet way — it satisfies you. It is not the same as fun or . It is the feeling when a piece of work goes well, when someone you taught finally understands, when a hope comes true. “It is gratifying to see…” is a set shape in rather careful English. The word is a little formal; friends might just say “it feels good” or “I’m really pleased”. You use it about a result or a scene, not about a person saying thank you. A smile can be gratifying. A kind gift makes you grateful.
