Get is the effort that makes something happen; on points two ways at once. It can mean onto a surface, and it can mean carrying on along something. Picture a tight shirt being worked onto your body, and picture someone already walking who simply keeps walking. Most uses of get on sit on one side or the other: something is worked onto the place it belongs, or a person, a job, a clock, a whole life keeps moving forward without stopping.

兩個方向合在一起。get 帶出「花點力氣讓這件事成立」，on 一邊指貼到某個表面上，一邊指接著不停往前。前者像把一件很緊的襯衫慢慢套到身上，後者像一個人已經在路上走，就這樣繼續走下去。get on 的用法大多落在其中一邊：把東西弄到該在的位置上，或者讓人、工作、鐘上的時間、一輩子順著往前走，不停下來。
