一套看空間的系統
這一支把那股流動當成真的東西來處理:有規矩、有方位、有人專門在看。差別只在範圍多大——一整片地,還是一個房間。
noun · B2
A Chinese system for deciding where to put a building, a grave, or the furniture in a room, so that energy flows well and good luck, health and money are said to follow.
風水
One way to hold this word: a space is not still. Something moves through it the way wind moves and water runs, and where you put things decides whether that movement runs smoothly or gets blocked. Start from a whole , narrow down to one room, and then let the idea go loose, and you have every use of the word in English.
Borrowed from Mandarin 風水 (fengshui), literally wind and water.
借自國語「風水」,字面就是「風和水」。所以上面那個「有東西在空間裡流動」的畫面,本來就寫在這個字裡面,不是後來加上去的比喻。

動手把空間擺好
同一個畫面,從「這是什麼」轉成「這件事怎麼做」和「擺起來順不順」。英文把名詞拿去當動詞,中文的「風水」不會這樣用,所以這一支是英文自己長出來的。
verb · B2
To feng shui a room or a house means to move the furniture and other things into the positions that the feng shui system asks for.
