plans, preparations · noun · B1
The things you plan and get ready in advance so that something can happen.
Picture arrangement as things put into their places in a chosen order — flowers set into a vase, chairs lined up for a meeting; from that one act of 'putting things in order' all its meanings grow.
From arrange, from Old French arengier 'put in a row, set in battle order' — a- 'to' + rang 'row, rank'. At root, an arrangement is things drawn up into a line or order.
