of the face · adjective · C2
On your face, or connected with your face — for example a look, hair, or the shape of it.
Anything to do with the face: the surface of a person's face, what shows on it, what grows on it, what is done to it.
From Latin facies 'form, appearance, face' + -al 'relating to'; the adjective simply marks 'belonging to the face'.
OED / Etymonline: facial, from Medieval Latin facialis, from Latin facies 'face'
