E-tail is selling goods or services to customers over the internet, instead of from a street shop you walk into. Writers sometimes call the company itself “an e-tail,” as if it were one shop. Though actually, in real talk e-tail is more often the kind of selling — online retail as a business — and people name the company an e-tailer. You will hear e-commerce much more; that is the everyday, wider word for almost the same idea. E-tail sounds a little office-and-newspaper, not like something a friend would say over lunch.
e-tail 指的是在網路上賣商品或服務，不是從街上的店面賣。寫作的人有時會把公司本身叫作 an e-tail，像把它當成一間店看待。不過在實際的口語裡，它比較常指這種網路銷售的做法，經營的公司則叫 e-tailer。
大家平常更常用 e-commerce，範圍比較大，也比較常見。e-tail 聽起來比較像辦公室或報紙的用語，朋友午餐時聊天，通常不會這樣說。
