    An e-tailer is a business that sells products or services on the internet, with no need for a shop on the street — though some e-tailers also keep real shops. The -er points to the seller: the company (and sometimes the person who runs it). Though actually, people still say online shop or 電商 far more than e-tailer. You meet e-tailer in business news more than in everyday chat. It is a little more formal and a little older-sounding than “online store.”
