    As fast as you can — no slow walk, no waiting. It comes from army marching: soldiers had a fast walk called quick time, and double-quick was almost a run, twice as lively. In ordinary English, especially British English, people still say “do it double-quick” or “at the double-quick” when they want someone to hurry right now. It can describe the action (a double-quick job) or tell you how to do it (come here double-quick). It feels a little old-fashioned and a little military, but parents and teachers still use it. It is only about speed, not about money.
