Decryption is the name of the process: the work of turning coded computer information back into a form you can read. After decryption, a locked file becomes a normal file again. Tech people, security reports, and software screens use this noun. It pairs with encryption — encryption hides; decryption reveals. In everyday talk, people more often just say “unlocking the file” and never use this noun at all.
