Cybersecurity is the work of keeping computers, phones, networks, and the information inside them safe from crime. That crime might be stealing a password, breaking into a company's files, or locking a hospital's computers and asking for money. It is not one app. It is a mix of software, rules, and habits: updates, locks on a network, training people not to click a bad link, and staff who watch for trouble. Job ads, news, and governments use the word a lot; it sounds serious and a bit technical. At home the same idea is often just “keep your account safe.” You will also see it written as two words, cyber security; people mean the same field. Though actually, it is the shield, not the attack — the attack has other names.
