Cyberspace is a way of talking about all the connections between computers as if they were a real place you can go into. Messages, pictures, and websites are thought of as living there, even though there is no street and no door. Journalists, teachers, and older science-fiction fans still use it; many younger people just say online or on the internet. It can sound a little 1990s, or a little grand, like a digital world. Though actually, it started as a story word: William Gibson coined it in Burning Chrome (1982) and it became famous in his novel Neuromancer (1984). News and law later borrowed it as if it were geography.
