Chairmanship is the job of being chairman — the person who leads a meeting, a committee, or an organisation — or the stretch of time that person holds that job. You might say “during her chairmanship the club grew,” meaning in the years she was in charge. It is a formal word you meet in news about companies, parliaments, and committees, not in chat with friends. Though actually, many groups now say chair or chairperson instead of chairman, but chairmanship is still the usual noun for the post itself. It names the office or the period, not the furniture.
