Bricklaying is the work of building with bricks — the skill and the trade, not the person, though the two words sit side by side and people mix them up. It means placing bricks in neat rows, with mortar, to make a wall or a building. People talk about bricklaying as a job you can learn, like plumbing or carpentry. When someone says they are in bricklaying, they mean that is how they earn a living. The finished wall is brickwork; the doing of it is bricklaying.
