說到底、就根本而言
兩個意思都是核心動作的兩個側面:一個用在「給重點、把話講簡單」,一個用在「就主要的部分而言、不計小差異」。其實是同一個「剝到底層」的手勢,只是落在說話和判斷兩種場合。
in simple terms · r · B2
Used when you want to give the most important point or a simple explanation, leaving out the small details.
基本上/簡單說
Stripping a thing down to its base — peeling off the small details and surface differences to point at the one core fact underneath. Both uses are this same move: 'forget the trimmings, here's what it really comes down to.'
Built on 'basic' (from 'base', via Late Latin 'basis' — foundation) + '-ally'. The adverb literally means 'at the base / in its foundation', which is exactly the move of pointing past details to the underlying point.
由 basic(來自 base、經晚期拉丁文 basis「基底、地基」)加上 -ally 構成,副詞本義就是「在基底上、就根本而言」。這正好對應了那個「越過細節、指向底層重點」的動作。
