Anti-Semitism is hatred of Jewish people, as an idea, a habit, or a political programme — not one rude moment, but the thing that keeps producing those moments. From German Antisemitismus. It is typically said that the German political Wilhelm Marr invented the term to replace Judenhaß (literally 'Jew-hatred') so that hatred of the Jews would seem rational and backed by scientific knowledge. Marr founded the Antisemitenliga ('Anti-Semites' League') in 1879, used Semitismus and Antisemiten in of 1879 and 1880, and used Antisemitismus at least as early as his 1885 . Though actually, the hate is much older than this word; the 1800s only gave it a modern coat. And though Semitic languages include Arabic as well as Hebrew, this political word was aimed at Jews. In English you still often see the and the capital S; some writers now prefer antisemitism as one word, to refuse the idea that there is a 'Semitism' a person could reasonably be 'anti.' Same core meaning either way. It belongs in history class, in the news, and in rules against hate; it is not a casual playground word.
