- 1
If someone is advantaged, they have more money, a better school, a higher place in society, or other head starts than other people. We speak of advantaged children, an advantaged background, the socially advantaged. It often appears as the quiet pair of disadvantaged, in news, school policy, and talk about fairness. It is a bit formal. Though actually, it does not mean the person did something clever to “get an advantage” in a game — it means the world already gave them a better starting place.
