組成From Old English Weogornaceaster: the Weogoran, a tribe living by the river, plus ceaster, the old English word for a walled Roman town, taken from Latin castrum ("fort"). So the whole name means "the Roman fort of the Weogoran people". That ceaster has worn down over the centuries to the -cester we now say as -ster.
