From Old French venue 'a coming', from venir 'to come'. The venue is the place people come to — where the crowd gathers, the event happens.

venue 源自古法語 venue（來到），字根 venir 就是「來」。所以場地的本義是「大家會來的那個地方」——人往那裡聚，活動就在那裡上演。
