Vehement describes speech, feelings or actions that come out with great force — a vehement denial, vehement opposition, a vehement critic. The person is not merely of that opinion; they push it hard and will not back down. It is a formal word, mostly written, and it goes most naturally in front of nouns of *saying* and *opposing*: denial, protest, objection, criticism, opposition, attack. You can also say a person is vehement about something. Notice that it leans negative in the sense that it is used far more for being against than for being for; 'vehement support' exists but is much rarer than 'vehement opposition'. It is not the same as 'angry' — a vehement person may be perfectly controlled, just immovable. Writers often use it with a slight raised eyebrow, suggesting the reaction was stronger than expected. Pronunciation catches people out: it is VEE-uh-muhnt, three syllables, and the h is silent.
