- 1無擔保的、無抵押的（貸款、債務）。台灣銀行的說法是「無擔保貸款」或「信用貸款」，跟有抵押品的「房貸」「車貸」相對。用在銀行以外時就是「沒固定好的、沒上鎖的」，例如 unsecured network ＝ 未加密的網路。
In money and banking, an unsecured loan or debt is one where you have not promised the bank anything of yours to take if you stop paying. A house loan is secured — miss enough payments and the bank can take the house. Credit-card debt and most small personal loans are unsecured: there is no house, no car, nothing held against the debt, only your promise and your record. Because the bank is taking more risk, unsecured borrowing almost always costs a higher interest rate, and banks look harder at your income before they say yes. Note that unsecured does not mean the debt disappears if you do not pay — the lender can still chase you, sue you, and wreck your credit record. It only means there is no particular thing set aside for them to seize. Outside of banking the word keeps its plain meaning of 'not , not made safe': an unsecured load on a truck, an unsecured door, an unsecured wifi network with no password.

組成un-（不、未）＋ secured（已使之安全、已擔保的）。secure 本身有兩層意思：一是「安全、牢固」，二是金融上的「提供擔保」，unsecured 兩層都用得上。
