  1. 1無動於衷的、不為所動的；（也指）原地未動的

    Not touched in the heart. If a story, a plea, or someone's tears leave you unmoved, you feel no pity and no sadness — you watched, you listened, and nothing inside you changed. It comes after the verb, usually with be, remain, seem, or leave: 'she was unmoved', 'he remained unmoved', 'the film left me unmoved'. Two flavours worth knowing. Sometimes it is a criticism — a hard-hearted judge unmoved by a mother's begging. Sometimes it is praise for calmness — a leader who stays unmoved while everyone panics. And in reviews it is a polite way to say a film or a book failed: 'I was unmoved' means it did not work on me, said gently. There is a second, plainer meaning too: not moved from its place, still sitting where it was ('the boxes stood unmoved for weeks'). And in argument writing, 'unmoved' can mean not persuaded — the person did not change their mind. All three come from the same picture: nothing shifted, whether it was a box, a heart, or an opinion.

組成un- (not) + moved (past participle of move). The heart-meaning of 'move' is the key: in English, a sad film 'moves' you — it pushes your feelings. So unmoved means the push did not happen.
