Ukrainian Ukrainian works三種用法 three ways。
As an adjective it means belonging to or coming from Ukraine — Ukrainian food, a Ukrainian passport.
As an adjective當形容詞用時 it它 means指的是 belonging to or coming from Ukraine屬於烏克蘭或來自烏克蘭 — Ukrainian food烏克蘭食物, a Ukrainian passport烏克蘭護照。
As a noun it means a person from Ukraine: "She is a Ukrainian." And as a noun it also names the language, a Slavic language written in the alphabet and closely related to Russian but genuinely separate — close the way and Hakka are separate, not two accents of one thing.

That last point is worth making to students, because for a long time people outside assumed Ukrainian was a kind of Russian, and Ukrainians find that insulting.

Note that the language name takes no "the": we say "he speaks Ukrainian", never "the Ukrainian".

組成Ukraine + -ian, an ending that makes "from, like, or belonging to" — and also makes the person who belongs there.
