tsp is the short written form of 'teaspoon' or 'teaspoons'. You will almost only meet it in recipes, on food packets, and on the side of medicine bottles — places where space is tight and every line is short. It is written, not spoken: when you read the recipe out loud you say 'teaspoon', never 'tee-ess-pee'. The same form covers one or many, so '1 tsp' and '2 tsp' are both correct and there is no 'tsps'. A full stop after it (tsp.) is fine and common in American books. Keep it apart from , which is tablespoon — that is three times bigger, and mixing them up will ruin what you are cooking. In recipes the measurement is a proper unit, not really the spoon in your drawer: one teaspoon is about 5 , so a measuring spoon is more reliable than the one you stir your tea with. In American recipes you will also see it written 't' (small letter) against 'T' for tablespoon, which is a nasty trap.
