From Middle English tiren, from Old English tȳrian, tēorian 'to fail, cease, become weary', of uncertain origin.

Two different words happen to be spelled the same here. One is about energy running out — the body slowing down after a long day. The other is the ring of rubber around a wheel. Nothing links them in modern English, so it is easier to keep them apart than to look for a thread.

這裡其實是兩個剛好拼法相同的字。一個講的是力氣用完了——走了一天之後身體慢下來的那種感覺；另一個是輪子外面那一圈橡膠。現代英文裡兩者沒有可以牽起來的線，與其硬找關聯，不如分開記。判斷方法很直接：當動詞用就是「累」，當名詞用就是「輪胎」。
