A supermom is a mother who does an amount: she has a full job outside the house, and she also raises the children, cooks, cleans, remembers everyone's appointments — and somehow does it all well. The word is warm and . You say it about a mother you are impressed by, often a friend or your own mother. It is informal and American in flavour. You would say it to someone's face as a compliment ("Wow, you're a supermom"), or about someone in conversation. You would not use it in a formal report or a school essay. Here is the part worth knowing, though. Many people now use the word with a small twist. Because "supermom" sounds like doing everything is normal and expected, some mothers dislike being called one — it can feel like pressure, not praise. So you will hear it used a bit too: "I'm tired of trying to be a supermom." The word itself has not turned negative, but the idea behind it is argued about. Notice which way the speaker means it before you copy them. There is no common word "superdad" used in the same way, and that difference is exactly why some people find the word uncomfortable.

    超級媽媽(口語常說「女超人」形容這種媽媽)。注意:中文的「超人媽媽」聽起來多半是純誇獎,英文的 supermom 有時帶著「社會要求媽媽什麼都做」的抱怨語氣。
