Picture a leather jacket with rows of small metal dots pushed into it. Each dot sits on its own, you can see it and feel it, and there are a lot of them spread across the whole surface. That is what studded shows you. Once you hold that picture, the word travels: the dots can be jewels on a watch, metal in a winter tyre, stars across the night sky, islands across a lake, or jokes across a speech. Same three things every time — many of them, each one separate, spread over the whole thing.

Wiktionary derives it as stud + -ed, the ordinary English way of turning a thing into an adjective meaning having many of that thing.

資料來源把它記成 stud（金屬圓釘）加上 -ed。英文常用這個方式把一個名詞變成形容詞，意思是「身上帶著那樣東西」，所以整個字的重心從頭到尾都在那些小圓釘上。
