One way to hold this word is an ordinary market, moved indoors and made invisible. There is a place with opening hours and rules, there are sellers and buyers, and there is a price that moves all day as they shout at each other. What is on the stall is not fish or fruit but small pieces of companies. Stand back from the stalls and you see the place; stand inside the noise and you see the trading and the prices.
