Someone who looks up at the stars. Most often it means an amateur — a person who enjoys watching the night sky, maybe with a small telescope, not a paid scientist. It can also cover people who study the stars seriously (astronomy) or people who read the stars for meaning about a person's life (astrology); the word itself does not choose between the two, which is part of its charm and part of its vagueness. There is a second, older use: a stargazer is a dreamer, someone whose head is in the clouds and who is not paying attention to what is in front of them — slightly teasing, gently affectionate. The word feels warm and a little poetic. In plain writing people say astronomer for the scientist; stargazer is what you call the hobbyist or the dreamer.

觀星者、看星星的人（愛好者居多）；另一個意思是「愛作夢、心不在焉的人」。要講專業的天文學家，中文會直接說天文學家，英文那邊也會改用 astronomer。
