Slow-pitch is a game like softball in which the pitcher throws slowly, underhand, so the ball goes up in a high arc before it comes down over the plate. Batters can see it coming, so the game is often social and mixed: men and women on the same team, offices and weekend leagues, not only serious athletes. It is a kind of softball, not baseball; the ball is bigger and softer than a baseball, and the pitching is the main thing that sets this version apart from fastpitch softball, where the throw is quick and hard.
