    Skywards means the same as skyward: up into the sky or towards the sky. The extra s is the older British-style ending. Look skywards, rise skywards, point skywards. You will see it more in British English; American English often uses skyward. Both feel a little more written than plain “up.” It is almost always an adverb — it tells you the direction of a look, a movement, a pointing finger.
