Shop-bought means you bought it in a shop, rather than making it at home. British speakers use this a lot about food: shop-bought cake, shop-bought pastry, shop-bought sandwiches — anything that came off a shelf instead of out of your own kitchen. It can be just a fact, or it can carry a little : homemade is the warm one, shop-bought is the easy one. Americans usually say store-bought for the same idea. It is an adjective, so it sits in front of a noun: shop-bought bread. You would not say “I shop-bought it.” Though actually, people also use it for clothes and furniture, not only food — anything made to sell, not made in the house.
shop-bought 指是在店裡買的，不是自己在家做的。英國人常把它用在食物上，例如「shop-bought cake」（店裡買的蛋糕）、「shop-bought sandwiches」，凡是從架上拿下來、不是自己廚房做的都算。它可以只是陳述事實，也可能帶一點輕蔑：homemade 比較有溫度，shop-bought 則是比較省事的選擇。美式英文通常說 store-bought，意思相同。
這是形容詞，要放在名詞前面，例如「shop-bought bread」，不會說「I shop-bought it」。衣服和家具也會用這個字，凡是為了販售而製造、不是在家裡做的，都可以這樣說。
