In the old Christian church year, Sexagesima is the second Sunday before Lent, so it falls about nine weeks before Easter. The name is Latin for “sixtieth (day)”, because this Sunday sits roughly sixty days before Easter. Though actually the count is not exact; the names are old labels more than a precise day-count. The Sundays around it follow the same idea: Septuagesima (about seventy), Sexagesima (about sixty), Quinquagesima (about fifty), and then Lent, once called Quadragesima (about forty). Most churches today have dropped these old names, so you will mainly meet Sexagesima in older books, Anglican or Catholic writing, and church-history talk. It is a proper name for a day, not a common noun, and it has nothing to do with sex.
