Self-confidence is the feeling that you can do things well — that you will be all right, that people will be fine with you. It lives inside you.

Self-confidence is Self-confidence 是 the feeling that一種感覺:you can do things well你能把事情做好——that you will be all right你會沒事,that people will be fine with you別人也會接納你。It lives inside you它住在你心裡。

Confidence can also mean “I trust her” (confidence in someone else). Self-confidence is only about you. Parents and teachers try to build it, and people speak of it kindly.

Confidence can also mean Confidence 也可以是 “I trust her”「我信任她」的意思(confidence in someone else對別人的信任)。Self-confidence is only about you Self-confidence 則只關於你自己。Parents and teachers父母和老師 try to build it會努力培養它,and people speak of it kindly人們談起它時語氣是好的。

Though actually, English speakers sometimes mix it up with being loud, or with thinking you are better than everyone. That louder thing is different. A person can have a lot of self-confidence and still be quiet and kind.

Though actually不過其實,English speakers sometimes說英語的人有時,with being loud會把它和「很大聲張揚」、or with thinking you are better than everyone或「自以為比誰都強」,mix it up搞混。That louder thing那種比較大聲的東西 is different是另一回事。A person can have a lot of self-confidence一個人可以很有自信,and still be quiet and kind同時仍然安靜又溫和。

You will hear it at school and at work: “You need more self-confidence.” It is a normal noun, a little tidy and grown-up. You do not usually make it plural, and you do not “a self-confidence.”

You will hear it你會聽到它 at school and at work在學校和職場:“You need more self-confidence.”「你需要多一點自信。」It is a normal noun它是個普通名詞,a little tidy and grown-up有點端正、有點大人味。You do not usually make it plural你通常不會把它變複數,and you do not “a self-confidence.”也不會說 “a self-confidence.”。
