Secretively is how a secretive person acts: they do the thing in a hidden, close way, so other people will not easily see what they are up to. You glance secretively at a message; you slip a letter into a bag secretively; a company might move money secretively. The adverb points at the manner, not at the person as a whole. Someone who is not a secretive person in daily life can still do one act secretively — for fun, from shyness, or because the news is not ready. It often suggests a little theatre: lowered voice, turned shoulder, a look to see who is watching. In writing it can sound slightly old or story-like; in speech people often say secretly or on the quiet instead. Secretly is the broader, everyday adverb. Secretively keeps the flavour of that guarded, holding-back habit.
