A Scotswoman is a woman who comes from Scotland. It is built the same way as Scotsman, and it has the same slightly formal, slightly proud feel. You are more likely to read it than to hear it on the bus; face to face, people often say she's Scottish instead. It is a useful word when you need to be clear that you mean a woman, because Scotsman and even the Scotsmen leave her out.
