Saucily tells you how someone speaks, looks, or behaves when they are being saucy: teasing about sex in a light, way, or answering back with playful cheek. An adverb, so it hangs on a verb: she grinned saucily; he answered saucily. The feeling is sparkle, not shock — a wink, a bold reply, a joke that brushes against sex and then laughs. It is especially British, and it can sound a little old-fashioned, like something a story or a might still say. It is not a word for cruel or truly dirty talk.
