If something is sacrosanct, people treat it as so important that you must not touch it, change it, or speak against it. The word began in church and old law, for things set apart as holy and protected by a sacred promise. Today people use it far outside church. A parent may say weekend family dinner is sacrosanct — nobody may skip it. A worker may say their lunch break is sacrosanct. Though actually, speakers often use it with a little heat, or even a little joke: they mean “do not even think of messing with this,” not that the thing is holy in a church sense. It is a formal, word. Used on small everyday things, it can sound over-the-top on purpose.
組成A learned borrowing from Latin sacrōsānctus: scholars took it from books, not from everyday speech. It joins sacer (holy) and sanctus (also “holy” / “made holy”). The two pieces say almost the same thing, piled on for force.
