Roseate means pink — the soft pink of a rose, not a loud red. You will mostly meet it in careful writing, poems, and nature notes: a roseate sky just after sunset, roseate feathers on a bird. Everyday English is much more likely to say pink, rosy, or rose-coloured; roseate feels like a book-word, a little old-fashioned, and a little proud of itself. Though actually, people also stretch it. A roseate view of the future is a picture that is a bit too pretty, too hopeful, the way rose-coloured glasses make everything look nicer than it is. Bird people use it as a straight colour word (a roseate tern is a tern with pink on it). Nobody uses it for a pink T-shirt.
