When someone looks or speaks reproachfully, they do it in that blaming, disappointed way. The adverb tells you how the action is done. She looked at him reproachfully; he asked, reproachfully, why they had not called. Same feeling as reproachful — criticism mixed with hurt — only now it is stuck to the verb. It is not a hot angry adverb. It is the how of a look or a line that says you have let someone down. You will hear it in stories more than in the street; in talk people often just show the face and do not name it.
