Something repetitious uses the same actions, or the same words, again and again, in a way that makes you tired. A repetitious speech says the point three times. A repetitious job is the same small movement, hour after hour. The word is almost always a complaint: not simply repeating, which can be useful (you repeat a phone number so you remember it), but repeating past the point of help. Though actually, repetitious and repetitive sit very close. Repetitive is the everyday word for work or sound that keeps looping. Repetitious is a little more likely when you are talking about language — writing, a lesson, a song — and it sounds a shade more critical. It is not a rude word, but it is never praise.
