Remonstrative describes a look, a tone, or a remark that shows you strongly of what someone has said or done. A remonstrative glance is the look a parent gives when you are about to do something foolish. It is a formal adjective, from remonstrate + -ive, and you will meet it more in books than in chat. Though actually, it does not have to be loud: often it is the opposite — a quiet, pointed kind of . If the word feels stiff, say or reproachful; those are the everyday near-matches. A remonstrative person is one who speaks up that way; a remonstrative letter does the same in writing.
