To redistribute something is to give it out again, but not in the same pattern as before. You take what is already held — money, land, seats, food, even cards in a game — and you share it once more so the amounts change. The news meaning is the one students meet most: a government may try to redistribute wealth, through tax and help for poorer people. Some voters want that; some fight it. A teacher can redistribute ; a computer can redistribute work across machines. The word sounds serious and a bit official. It is not the first giving-out (that is distribute). The re- is the “again, differently” part. It is also not recycle, which is about using material once more, not about sharing it out in a new way.
組成From re- + distribute: re- (again, in a new way) + distribute (give out to each member of a group). The re- goes back through French to Latin re-.
