1. 1

A ram-raid is a crime: people drive a vehicle straight into a shop window, smash it, steal the goods inside — usually very fast — and drive away. The vehicle is used as a ram, a heavy thing for hitting. The word is especially British; you hear it in UK news. There is also ram-raiding for the activity and ram-raider for the person. It is a newspaper word, not a gentle or old-fashioned one. Though actually, it names a quite specific method, not every smash-and-grab. If thieves break a window with a tool and run in, that is not a ram-raid. A vehicle has to be driven into the front of the shop.

    衝撞搶劫(開車撞破商店櫥窗再搶東西。台灣新聞較常直接描述經過,比較少用一個固定譯名)
