Psych is a casual, spoken word with a few different jobs. As a short form, it can mean 'psychology' (a 'psych class') or 'psychiatric' (a 'psych ward' in a hospital). As a verb, 'to psych someone out' means to make them nervous or less confident on purpose, often before a competition; 'to psych yourself up' means to get yourself mentally ready and for something hard. And if you shout just 'Psych!' after telling someone something, it's an American way of saying 'just kidding' — you tricked them for a second.
